Champions League: Borussia Dortmund - Real Madrid

Az ev fogadoirodaja

Very interesting game will be played tonight in Germany. The home team is the only team which didn't lose a competitive game yet in the Champions League in this season. These teams already met in the group stage, the first game ended with a Dortmund win at home 2-1, and at away with 2-2 draw. From watching that games and comparing last games of both teams, we can tell that both teams like offensive style of football and they prefer fast playing even in most important games. Both teams like to risk and go for the goal rather than defending and keep the score low.

Borussia Dortmund are undefeated in their last 10 matches in the Champions League. They have won each of their last 7 home games and all 5 of their home Champions League games this season. They won 2-0 at home against Mainz last weekend in German Bundesliga. Scored in the first minute of the match and since then played at a low rhythm, but never lost control of the game. In the second half had the ball possession, created some opportunities and scored the second goal at the end. Now they have a fully fit squad.

In the last championship game Real Madrid won 3-1 against Betis. Mesut Ozil had great performance and scored twice, and Karim Benzema scored once, while Betis managed to reduce the score from a penalty. With this result, Real completed three consecutive wins and are undefeated for eleven games. Coach Jose Mourinho said that they have been on the brink for 3 years and now there is no excuse for missing out on the Champions League final. They will be going all out for an important victory and will be relying on their deadly counterattack. In the team Alvaro Arbeloa is suspended, Michael Essien is doubtful and Marcelo is injured. But this does not really affect the team as they have better players who can fill those positions. The big question is Angel Di Maria, who became a father yesterday and is expected to travel in Dortmund.

If Real Madrid fails to reach the final, their season will be considered unsuccessful but Jose Mourinho will not let this happen. His reputation is the stake, because Mourinho will become the first coach that wins the Champions League, with three different teams. He has been studying Dortmund for many weeks and he knows how to beat them now since he is not likely to repeat the same mistakes as in the group stages. For me this match starts from 2 goals. Both teams style is set to score and their defenses are not so strong. Perhaps Mourinio will form his team with a more reserved approach, but they certainly have the weapons to score at least a goal. Dortmund will play to score because they know they have to get the win in the first match so they have hopes for reaching the final.
