William Hill

The London Stock Exchange Group has announced that it intends to add British online and land-based gaming operator William Hill to its FTSE 100 Index from Wednesday following the merger of Glencore PLC with Xstrata PLC.

Launched in 1984 and maintained by the FTSE Group, the FTSE 100 Index is a share directory of the leading companies listed on the London Stock Exchange with the highest market capitalisation and is widely used to gauge the success of businesses regulated by company law in the UK.

As a result of its merger with commodities trading company Glencore, the London Stock Exchange Group revealed that multi-national mining firm Xstrata is to have its listing on the FTSE 100 Index deleted.
