Value Alert: A Wigan win away to QPR is the value bet

It's that time of the week when Christian Crowther previews where the potential value is lurking ahead of the weekend's Premier League action...

Last weekend, Betfair's ingenious Value Finder widget came up with the goods again, showing punters the way in backing Under 2.5 goals at the Stadium of Light, where Manchester United were the visitors.

Of course that 1-0 result ultimately left the unfortunate Martin O'Neill jobless, but without top scorer Steven Fletcher in their ranks, the Black Cats were always going to struggle to find the net.

Since then, Paolo Di Canio's appointment as O'Neill's replacement has provided the major news story of the week, though his political beliefs wil surely be forgotten if he can pull off an unlikely win at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

According to the Value Finder this unlikely win may be exactly where the biggest value of the weekend is hiding.

The widget has flagged up a huge 7.6 discrepancy between it's pure form-based price and Betfair's price of 12.0, and everyone knows what a galvanising effect a new manager can have!

Elsewhere, a Wigan win in the blockbuster basement battle at Loftus Road holds real interest too. The Value Finder points to a 0.66 difference in the prices and the stats tend to back that up.

Wigan have already began to mount their customary end-of-season survival push, resulting in three wins from their last four league games. Furthermore, QPR have a terrible home record as well, having won just once at Loftus Road in their last seven Premier League matches.

A 3-0 win at Fortress Goodison Park in the FA Cup a few weeks back is also a good indicator of just how well Wigan are playing at the moment.

The Latics are available at 3.3 to virtually condemn their relegation rivals to the drop.

Finally, in light of the injuries to Gareth Bale and Aaron Lennon, Tottenham's threat at home to Everton is greatly diminished.
