Premier League

New Chelsea boss Rafa Benitez has backed his side to be involved in the Premier League title race come the end of the season, despite the Blues having slipped seven points off the pace.

A goalless draw at home to Fulham saw Benitez's new charges lose further ground on Manchester United and Manchester City, with the Blues now 13/2 with bet365 to be crowned champions. However, the former Liverpool tactician refuses to throw in the towel in the chase of the Manchester clubs. A defiant Benitez said: "It's still a long way to go. We have to keep going, we'll have chances. "Remember, last season when City were ahead and it was 'easy'. Then they needed to win their last game, it's a long, long competition. "The main thing is to win games. If we do, we'll be there and we can win competitions. We need to start doing that and the confidence will come back."
