The Big Wednesday Multiple: Merseyside clubs can fire us to a festive winner!
No festive rest for Paul Robinson who goes in again with a bash at a big Wednesday winner, rolling a home win, away win, over 2.5 goals and under 2.5 goals into one bet. Here are his Boxing Day selections:
Bet 1: Everton (HOME) @ 1.5 (1/2)
We kick off on Merseyside as Everton host Wigan in what should be a pretty straightforward home victory.
The Toffees have now won two of their last three after going through a spell of too many draws. David Moyes may still be without the services of the suspended, Marouane Fellaini, but he wasn't there for the win at West Ham, and Darren Gibson is available as The Blues have appealed his red card. At Goodison Park, Everton are undefeated in 12 league games, winning eight and drawing four.
Wigan are struggling again after a reasonably bright start by their standards and they find themselves down in 18th place. The Latics have picked up just a single point from a possible 15, and that came at home to QPR. Away from the DW it's six losses from eight so far this term, losing the last three on the spin.
Bet 2: Liverpool (AWAY) @ 2.2 (6/5)
Our away victory of the week will hopefully come in the Midlands as the resurgent Liverpool travel to fortress Britannia to take on Stoke.
Stoke are up in ninth place after proving hard to beat this year. The Potters have lost just three times in the league and have drawn on 10 occasions. A 0-0 at Spurs was their third draw in a row and the last time they tasted defeat was back at the start of November at Norwich.
Tony Pullis' men are unbeaten at the Britannia in 15 league matches, stretching back to last season. They may not score too many, but they keep it very tight at the back and they actually have the best defensive record in the division at the moment.
Liverpool are beginning to flex their muscles though and they demolished a poor Fulham side on Saturday to put the blip against Aston Villa behind them.
Brendan Rodgers' outfit are up to eighth after a slow start, just five points off fourth place. Steven Gerrard put in his best performance of the season last time and it could be argued that it was because he was back with his old partner, Lucas, with Joe Allen on the bench.
Away from Anfield, The Reds have lost just once since the opening day defeat at West Brom, and they did more than enough to deserve a point in that match at White Hart Lane. They have tightened up defensively - four clean sheets in seven - and Luis Suarez is back amongst the goals.
Bet 3: Huddersfield v Blackpool (Over 2.5 goals) @ 1.7 (7/10)
Our Boxing Day goal fest comes from The Championship as Huddersfield Town entertain Blackpool.
The Terriers have slipped to 15th place after going seven without a victory and manager, Simon Grayson, will be looking to end that run before they drop any nearer to the relegation zone. The problem has been conceding too many goals in recent weeks; 10 shipped at home in their last four fixtures, so despite netting seven themselves in that period, they managed to take just two points from those games.
Blackpool are 12th and have managed to win two of their last four after drawing six of their previous eight. Like last year they can usually be relied upon for goals as their match average is 3.17, the sixth highest in the league. Away from home, five of their last eight have gone over 2.5, with three of their last five going over 3.5.
Bet 4: [bf]Colchester v Brentford (Under 2.5 goals) @ 1.75 (3/4)
We finish this week's multiple with a trip to League One as Brentford take on Colchester in what should be a low scoring affair.
Colchester are down in 19th place in the table after picking up just 23 points from 23 fixtures played. A quick glance at the statistics identifies where the problem has been for The U's as the goals for column says they have scored an average of one per match, which is the second worst record in the division. Six of their last eight at home have gone under 2.5 and they failed to net last time versus Oldham.
Brentford are flying at present having collected 23 points from a possible 27 since their 2-1 defeat at Doncaster in October. The Bees are up to third in the table and just two points off top spot with a game in hand. They have been keeping it pretty tight at the back of late, especially away from home, as it's just two conceded in their last four on the road, with five of their last seven having two goals or less.
