Superb Chelsea thrash Villa but United held

Chelsea silence their Rafa Benitez critics in scintillating fashion as they put eight past Aston Villa, but leaders Manchester United could manage only a draw in Wales...

Chelsea are up to third in the table after thrashing Aston Villa 8-0 at Stamford Bridge.

Villa - who beat Liverpool at Anfield last week - were put to the sword from as early as the third minute when Fernando Torres powered home a superb header from the edge of the area. The Spaniard was scoring his seventh goal in just six games since his former Reds boss Rafa Benitez took charge, and was available to back at 5.8 in the First Goalscorer market.

It was a dominant display from the Blues throughout, and they were rewarded on the half hour mark when David Luiz - playing in midfield as opposed to the centre of defence - smashed home a brilliant free-kick.

And just five minute later it was 3-0 thanks to Branislav Ivanovic heading home from just two yards after a Gary Cahill shot was saved. Luiz was matched at 8.6 To Score anytime with Ivanovic being matched at 9.8.

The second half became a bit of an training exercise for Chelsea as they continually threatened to add to their tally. And the goal everyone wanted to see came on 58 minutes when Frank Lampard - making his 500th Premier League appearance - stroked home brilliantly from 30 yards to put the Blues four up.

It's no exaggeration to say Chelsea could have scored double figures in the second half alone, but they had to settle for just eight in total with Ramires (two), Oscar, and Eden Hazard completing the rout for the home side.

Over 7.5 Goals was matched at 100.0 In-Play, though in the Correct Score Home market, the 7-0 score was matched at an incredible 380.0, with anyone on at those odds having plenty of time to cash out before Chelsea's late eighth goal. The 8-0 scoreline was covered in the Any Unquoted option and was matched at 60.0.

Earlier in the day league leaders Manchester United were held to a 1-1 draw at the Liberty Stadium, a result that means their six-point lead prior to the weekend has now been reduced to four after Manchester City's late winner on Saturday.

Patrice Evra - matched at a gigantic 70.0 in the First Goalscorer market - put United ahead but Michu - who else? - equalised for the Swans before half time.

United looked the more likely to get the winner in the second half but the cross-bar twice came to the rescue of Swansea and the match ended all-square.

Man Utd remain the 1.64 favourites to win the league title, just ahead of Man City at 3.35 with Chelsea third best at 13.0.
