Mark Selby will play Mark Williams in the quarter-finals of the Masters at Alexandra Palace after both men produced spectacular comebacks in the first round of the tournament.

Selby, 4/1 with bet365 to win the Masters, won the last five frames after trailing 5-1 to Stuart Bingham, while Williams hit back from 4-1 down to beat Matthew Stevens 6-4. World number one Selby, who won the UK Championship last month, struggled for long spells against Bingham, but eventually ground out a victory that sets up a last-eight encounter with Williams, who is available at 12/1 to win the tournament. Williams, who won the Masters in 1998 and 2003, admitted that at the age of 37 it would be difficult for him to taste success in the tournament for a third time. He said: "There aren't many players that win tournaments at my age. The statistics show it's going to be very hard for me to win a tournament now. "I'm playing brilliant in practice but in matches terribly. But I can't keep saying that. I've either got to bring it to the match table or keep my mouth shut."
