Snooker: Murphy eyes Triple Crown success

12Jan 2013

Shaun Murphy is desperate to win this month's Masters tournament so that he can complete the Triple Crown.

The 30-year-old is aiming to become only the eighth player in snooker's history to win all three of the sport's most prestigious titles - the UK Championship, The Masters and the World Championships. "The Masters is the only current one of the big three tournaments that I haven't won and I'd absolutely love it if I could complete the set - very few people have managed to do that," Murphy said. "I got to the final last year and lost to a class player in Neil Robertson so, if I can go one better this time around, that would be great." Murphy, the 2005 world champion, is 11/1 with bet365 to win The Masters and has been drawn to face the world number 13 Ricky Walden in the first round. Meanwhile, Judd Trump is 7/2 to win the tournament.
