Seventh is progress for Rodgers

Premier League

Boss Brendan Rodgers believes that a top-seven finish in the Premier League will represent progress in his first season in charge at Liverpool, with the Reds having ended in eighth last term.

Rodgers, whose side are 6/4 with bet365 to clinch a top-six spot, drew 1-1 at Chelsea on Sunday and, having won just twice in 11 league games this term, are down in 13th place in the table. However, Rodgers is keen to try and keep a lid on expectations around Anfield, saying after a spirited display at Stamford Bridge: "The reality is we're a long way off in the league. We finished eighth last year, if we can improve on that it'll be fantastic for us. "That's the reality of where Liverpool are I'm afraid." Liverpool's only two league wins of the season to date are a 1-0 success at home to Reading in mid-October and a 5-2 thrashing of Norwich City at Carrow Road at the end of September.
