Serena Williams has played down her chances of winning the French Open even though she has put together a run of 24 successive victories.

Williams, 6/5 with bet365 to win the French Open, thrashed Victoria Azarenka 6-1 6-3 in the final of the Rome Masters as she secured the 51st WTA title of her career. However, the world number one knows that she has a poor record at Roland Garros – she has only won the French Open once and was knocked out in the first round last year. She said: "Last year I was feeling excellent on clay but didn't do that great at Roland Garros - this year I'm cautious and I want to work hard and stay focused and win every point I play, and not slack at all." Azarenka, who was playing in only her second tournament since being sidelined for almost two months with an ankle injury, is 11/2 to win the French Open.
