Scottish Cup Final: Merciless Celtic to deny Hibs again

It's the FA Cup final north of the border as Christian Crowther predicts no such Wigan-esque win for Hibernian...

Hibernian v Celtic, Sunday 15:00, Sky Sports 3, Match Odds: Hibernian 8.6, Celtic 1.4, The Draw 5.2

Without Rangers to do battle with, the Bhoys have to make do with tormenting other SPL clubs for their entertainment. Hibernian represent extremely worthy finalists of  course, even taking four points from nine available against the Old Firm this season, though last month's encounter was a little demoralising.

Celtic drubbed the Edinburgh outfit 3-0 that day as their stroll toward a 44th Scottish title went on uninhibited. The margin of victory at Parkhead and yawning 28- point gap between the clubs in the league only serves to reinforce the chasm in quality between the squads.

Having finished off their season by doling out 4-0 hidings to both St Johnstone and Dundee United, Neil Lennon's champions couldn't arrive in any finer fettle at  Hampden Park either. The question could end up being: how many will Celtic win by?

Hibs are in decent form it must be said, winning their last three games before this FA Cup final but only after perpetrating a truly dismal sequence of just one SPL  victory in 14. Also, the Edinburgh club have more than the gaping gap in quality to bridge at Hampden, they also have the crushing weight of history going against  them.

They last took home the Scottish Cup in 1902 and since then have contested nine more finals without hoisting the trophy, including last season's 5-1 hammering courtesy  of their city rivals Hearts.

Win to Nil

Having just plundered eight goals without reply, Celtic's tails are not so much up as taking off ahead of this Hampden date. Fixtures between these clubs have  regularly produced a clean cut winner too; four of the past seven have been won to nil, with three of those results falling in Celtic's favour.

Celtic to score in Both Halves

It's not surprising to learn that these free-scoring Bhoys forced the opposition keeper into ball retrieval duties both sides of the break in their last two games of  the season. This is a feat that the Old Firm club have repeated in their four of their last five victories across all competitions.

Best Bet: Back Celtic to win to nil @ 2.5

Other Recommended Bet: Back Celtic to score in both halves @ 2.2
