Rugby League: Jones-Bishop faces lengthy lay-off
Leeds Rhinos' hopes of winning a sixth Grand Final in seven years have been dealt a blow after Ben Jones-Bishop was diagnosed with having a blood clot in one of his lungs.
The 24-year-old winger has a pulmonary embolism and has been advised not to play again until July at the earliest. Jones-Bishop scored 23 tries last season and was part of Steve McNamara's England Elite Training Squad, but he will not travel to Portugal for Leeds' warm weather training camp later this month. "I'm looking forward now and doing everything I can to get back as soon as I can, once I'm given the all-clear," said Jones-Bishop. "It's a relief to get it diagnosed and get treatment and to know that it isn't a life-threatening condition." The Rhinos, who are 10/11 with bet365 to beat Melbourne Storm in next month's World Club Challenge, are 9/2 to win the Grand Final later this year.
