Rugby League: Briers comeback plans on hold
Warrington Wolves head coach Tony Smith has confirmed that Lee Briers has suffered a setback as he attempts to recover from neck and back problems.
The experienced playmaker was close to returning to action until he picked up an injury in training. This has delayed the former Wales international's comeback plans. "Lee has picked up a slight calf strain while training and that has set him back a little bit. It's only a small strain, but it's not quite right, so he'll be out for a little bit longer than we'd hoped," explained Smith. Warrington advanced to the fifth round of the Challenge Cup by beating Keighley Cougars at the weekend and have been drawn against Super League rivals Salford City Reds. Warrington are [b3655/2 with [b365bet365 to win this year's Challenge Cup and [b3655/2 to triumph in the Super League Grand Final. "We went to Keighley with a strong team and only one or two debutants. We wanted to win the game and we wanted to get on top of one or two aspects of how we play. It was a pleasing afternoon and we're glad to be in the next round," Smith added.
