Premier League on Betfair: New boy Sissoko makes instant impact on home debut
In a thrilling day of Premier League action containing no less than 23 goals, Moussa Sissoko grabbed the headlines. Luke Moore dissects today's action...
Frenchman Moussa Sissoko inspired the Magpies to a famous win over Rafa Benitez's Chelsea side this afternoon and in doing so reduced their odds on relegation from the Premier League to 12.0.
Sissoko struck twice in 22 minutes, his second and the match-winner coming just before full time to get his career at Newcastle off to a flying start. After making a promising debut at Villa Park the previous week, his home debut could hardly have gone better.
At Goodison Park, Paul Lambert's Aston Villa were unable to keep hold of a 1-3 lead and they allowed Everton and more specifically Marouane Fellaini to peg them back. The big Belgian was able to strike twice to ensure the game ended 3-3, a price that was traded at 120.0 on Betfair's Exchange. Everton are now just 5.0 to secure a Top Four Premier League finish.
In the day's early kick off, Adel Taarabt missed a penalty meaning QPR's game with Norwich at Loftus Road ended 0-0, a result that was matched at a price of 13.0 . Redknapp's men, who really need to start converting some draws into wins are currently 1.58 to be relegated.
Arsenal edged a cagey game against Stoke 1-0, courtesy of a goal from Lukas Podolski who was matched at 9.8 to score the first goal at the Emirates. Arsenal are now on a run of three Premier League games without defeat and find themselves 2.18 to clinch a top four place.
As well as at St James's Park, there was also late drama at the DW Stadium. Shaun Maloney struck in the last minute of the game to make the score 2-2 and bag a valuable point for Wigan against Southampton. Martinez's charges still find themselves in the relegation zone, however.
Reading added a further result to their recent run of form, overcoming Sunderland 2-1 in a hard-fought game at the Madejski Stadium. The Royals have now won three of their last four games and are out of the drop zone on goal difference. After that win, their price to finish rock bottom has moved out to 3.0.
At Upton Park, Andy Carroll scored his first goal since November which was enough to hand all three points to West Ham. They offered stubborn resistance against Swansea who were unable to break the east London club down. West Ham are now out to 15.0 to be relegated in their first season back in the Premier League.
