Premier League on Betfair: Birthday joy for Redknapp while United go marching on

England - Premier League

It was sweet, sweet victory for Harry Redknapp's QPR, disappointment for Stoke, and business as usual for Manchester United today in the Premier League...

Queens Park Rangers are now 1.39 to be relegated from the Premier League after a vital win against Southampton at St Mary's this afternoon. Loic Remy and Jay Bothroyd ensured QPR took maximum points back up the M3 in a 1-2 win that was matched at 22.0 on the Betfair exchange.

Harry Redknapp's men entertain a struggling Sunderland at Loftus Road next weekend, a game they're currently 2.34 to win, and after the spirit and determination they showed today, you'd be a fool to bet against them. Redknapp will be keen to ensure his side build on this result after a tumultuous week at the west London club.

At the other end of the Premier League table, Manchester United put fears of a lack of concentration ahead of Tuesday's clash with Real Madrid firmly to bed with a 4-0 thrashing of Norwich at Old Trafford. Shinji Kagawa weighed in with a hat-trick, something that was matched at 11.0 on Betfair, and United are now just 1.04 to wrestle the title back from their Mancunian neighbours this season.

West Ham can now consider themselves safe from the dreaded drop after a superb 0-1 win at Stoke (matched at 12.5). Big Sam's Hammers are now as long as 22.0 to be relegated and nine points from the relegation zone. Stoke now sit in 11th place, behind Fulham on goal difference and are now priced at 2.2 to secure a top ten finish.

Elsewhere, there were wins for Swansea and Everton, and beleaguered boss Rafa Benitez would have been thankful to his charges for managing to clinch a narrow 1-0 win over West Brom at Stamford Bridge. Demba Ba scored the only goal of the game, something that was matched at 5.9 on Betfair, and Chelsea are now a point above rivals Tottenham Hotspur and 1.29 to finish in the top four.

In the other game of the day, Fulham travelled to Sunderland in a game that finished 2-2. That's now five games without a win for Martin O'Neill's side who appear to be on the slide. The market obviously fancies them to arrest their slump at some point though as they're still a huge 46.0 for relegation. That price is perhaps surprising when one considers they're just six points above the drop zone.
