Play up Pompey
Scunthorpe take on the struggling Portsmouth in League One this evening but with just one home win to their name all season, Paul Robinson thinks they have to be opposed at their current price.
Brian Laws took over at the struggling Scunthorpe at the end of October and after winning his two opening games in charge at Walsall and Coventry, they've only added two more victories in their next dozen matches none of which came on home soil.
The Iron are down in 22nd place after 29 fixtures, one point adrift of safety. After losing five of six games at the end of 2012, Scunthorpe have avoided defeat in four of their five so far this year, although three of those were draws.
At Glanford Park, Brian Laws' side have picked up just eight points from a possible 39 this term, and they couldn't even beat the struggling Oldham recently having been 2-0 up and then playing against 10 men for the final 25 minutes.
Portsmouth are in turmoil, something they're used to, and they are currently 1.03 to be relegated. They're languishing in 23rd place and despite only being five points off safety, they've picked up just three points from their last 16 games.
Away from Fratton Park, Pompey have lost their last two, but before that they did hold the in-form, Coventry and Tranmere to draws. Guy Whittingham clearly has a massive task on his hands but there is a slight glimmer of hope, albeit only a tiny one.
Scunthorpe are clearly the worthy favourites here but their price is just far too short for a side who have won just once at home all season. That's why at around the 1.59 mark, I have to make them my lay of the day.
