Pardew chasing Europa success

4Apr 2013

England - Premier League

Alan Pardew has his sights set on both Europa League glory and Premier League survival with Newcastle United in the coming weeks.

The Magpies' first test is a Europa League quarter-final first leg in Portugal against Benfica, with Pardew's men 12/1 with bet365 to win the competition and secure their first major European silverware since the 1969 Fairs Cup. Pardew told the Chronicle: "Every game is important and it is about momentum. "We have got ourselves into a fantastic position in the Europa League and now we've got to see it through. "The second leg is at home, so it will be a full house - so we have lots to look forward to, but we have to make sure we do well in our Premier League games too." The Magpies will be without injured quartet Cheick Tiote, Massadio Haidara, Fabricio Coloccini and Hatem Ben Arfa for the trip to Lisbon, with Mathieu Debuchy and Yoan Gouffran both ineligible.
