Opta Stats: Man City to swamp deckchair dreamers Swansea
Equipped with Opta's supreme stats, Christian Crowther goes in search of four bets to accompany the weekend's Premier League action...
West Brom v Wigan (Saturday, 15:00)
Both teams have found the net in all four previous Barclays Premier League meetings between West Brom and Wigan at The Hawthorns
Steve Clarke's rallying cry not to let a season's hard work peter out into a whimper had exactly the desired effect last Saturday as his Baggies team went on to record their most emphatic away win of the season at Southampton. Each one of West Brom's last four home Premier League games have produced goals at either end as did the reverse fixture at the DW Stadium, only this time the Latics are fighting for their lives.
Recommended Bet: Back both teams to score @ 1.65
Swansea v Manchester City (Saturday, 15:00)
Swansea have won only one of their seven league games since winning the Capital One Cup (D2 L4)
It's difficult to point the finger at a Swansea side that have been as aesthetic as any this season under Michael Laudrup, culminating in that first ever major domestic triumph. However, since that season high point it's apparent their minds have not been able to refocus on the league campaign as they plan which remote island to bask on come June. With Chelsea now a little close for comfort, expect Roberto Mancini's men to punish any such daydreaming.
Best Bet: Back Manchester City to beat Swansea @ 1.78
QPR v Arsenal (Saturday, 17:30, ESPN)
Arsenal have scored exactly one goal in seven of their last eight Barclays Premier League meetings with Queens Park Rangers
For all Arsenal's supposed good form, the Gunners have actually only been able to muster two goals and one win from their last three outings, albeit one of those games came against the champions. The continued suspension of their attacking focal point Olivier Giroud will not help the visitors' chances of finding the net either, while toothless QPR have now gone over four-and-a-half hours without scoring a Premier League goal.
Recommended Bet: Back Under 2.5 goals @ 2.38
Sunderland v Stoke (Monday, 20:00, Sky Sports 1)
Sunderland have won three and lost none of their four previous Barclays Premier League home meetings with Stoke, keeping four clean sheets in the process
It must have been fun to be a Sunderland player at training this week after their televised thrashing by Aston Villa a week prior to this game led Paolo Di Canio to publically apologise for the Black Cat's dire performance. After shipping six at Villa Park, attempting to shut Stoke out will be the Italian's main priority. The reverse fixture produced a forgettable stalemate, while Sunderland have registered more than one goal in only one of their last seven league games.
Recommended Bet: Back Sunderland to win 1-0 @ 7.2
