Old Lady to creak at Parma
Juventus are odds-on for their visit to Parma this afternoon but with the hosts in top form at home, Paul Robinson thinks that the league leaders should be taken on.
Parma have been revitalised under manager, Roberto Donadoni. The former Milan and Italy winger took over in January 2012 with the club languishing near the relegation zone. He led them to a seventh placed finish and recorded a club record seven wins in a row. They are eighth this time around, and while they've struggled away, it's been another story at home.
The Crusaders are undefeated at Stadio Ennio Tardini so far this term, with six wins and three draws from their nine matches in Serie A. They've beaten Inter Milan and Roma, and held Fiorentina and AC Milan, who are all near the top of the table. They have scored in every game bar one and kept three clean sheets, so it's absurd that they are such big underdogs today.
Juventus are the defending champions after going unbeaten in the league last season, and while they are five points clear at the top this time, they've lost three of their 19 fixtures, including last time out against 10 man Sampdoria.
Away from Turin, Antonio Conte's side have collected 22 points from a possible 27 this year, but it should be noted that none of their seven victories came against clubs in the top eight, with five of them coming against the bottom five in the league. When they've faced tougher opposition, they were held by Fiorentina and lost to Milan.
I feel that Parma have been underestimated in the match odds market as they are strong at home and Juventus have had a kind run of fixtures away. At around the 1.82 mark, I have to make Juventus my lay of the day.
