Martinez targets top four

England - Premier League

New Everton boss Roberto Martinez says his long-term aim to make the Toffees regular challengers for Champions League football.

Martinez, whose side are 20/1 with bet365 to finish in the Premier League top four next season, has warned that it may take some time to reach the ultimate goal, but insists that it is possible. The Spaniard said: "It is a bit more of a long-term ambition of the club. "The work David Moyes has done has laid a platform where, in the next few years, we should be dreaming of getting to the Champions League. "That has to be the aim for the future. It doesn't mean next season, in two seasons' time - it has to be the dream of every Evertonian. "I am not saying it is a realistic target, it has to be the dream." Everton finished in sixth place in the season just ended, the final campaign under now Manchester United boss David Moyes.
