Manchester City confirm Pellegrini appointment
In the least surprising news of the footballing summer, Manchester City have finally confirmed the appointment of ex-Malaga boss Manuel Pellegrini as manager
The Chilean, who has signed a three-year contract, led Malaga to the Champions League for the first time in their history during his nine years as a La Liga manager, which also included stints at Villarreal and Real Madrid.
In total, Pellegrini has more than 25 years of managerial experience during which time he has led clubs in his native Chile, Ecuador and Argentina to six major trophies, including League titles with LDU Quito and Argentinian sides River Plate and San Lorenzo.
He takes over from Roberto Mancini, who was sacked as City boss after failing to deliver a trophy last season.
Speaking to the official Manchester City website, Pellegrini said: "I am delighted to accept this hugely exciting opportunity.
"The club has a clear vision for success both on and off the pitch and I am committed to making a significant contribution."
This 'vision' includes competing for every competition that the club is involved in next season. They are 3.5 to wrest the Premier League title back from neighbours Manchester United and can be backed at 15.5 to win the Champions League.
