Keen as mustard for goals at Dijon

28Jan 2013

Ligue 2

Dijon and Lens meet in the second tier of French football this evening and despite this division usually being a low scoring league, Paul Robinson thinks that these  two can produce a few goals.

It was a highly profitable weekend for this column as we had 1.76 and 1.72 lays turned over, including one in the FA Cup giant killing at Boundary Park yesterday.

Dijon were relegated from Ligue One last year and while they are only currently seventh in the table, they do have at least one game in hand over their rivals, which  if they won, would see them on the edge of the top three. After getting back on track from a poor run of results, they lost for the first time in five away at Tours  last time, so it's important they get their momentum back as soon as possible.

At their home of Stade Gaston Gérard, Olivier Dall'Oglio's side have took 12 points from a possible 12 recently, with the goals beginning to flow after a lean period.  Three of those four went over 2.5, and Dijon netted three themselves in each of their last two against Istres and Le Mans.

Lens are ninth in the league and although they're only in mid-table, they are actually undefeated in their last dozen games. Obviously they've drawn plenty of games  during that run - seven in total - with five of them having come in their last five.

As far as the goals go, Eric Sikora's outfit have seen five of their last seven away from home go over 2.5, with three of them actually going over 3.5. They've netted  twice themselves in four of their last six on the road, but they've only kept three clean sheets all season.

French games can often be frustrating when hoping for goals, but these two have been producing them lately and at the current odds of 1.67, I have to make under 2.5  goals my lay of the day.
