Horse Racing: Walsh plays down Hurricane Fly's chances

30Jan 2013

Ruby Walsh is refusing to get carried away by Hurricane Fly's form as the 2011 Champion Hurdle winner attempts to replicate that success at Cheltenham in March.

Hurricane Fly is 5/2 with bet365 to win the Champion Hurdle after storming through the snow of Leopardstown on Sunday to land the Irish Champion Hurdle, while Grandouet can be backed at 7/1 to triumph at Cheltenham. However, Walsh said: "Yes, he's in very good shape and has looked the part in both of his races this season, but there's still some good horses to come out. "Last year's winner, Rock on Ruby, has yet to appear and you certainly have to respect Zarkandar and Nicky Henderson's Grandouet. "It's shaping up to be a great race but Hurricane Fly couldn't have done more. He's done everything expected of him."
