Horse Racing: Waley-Cohen ready for intriguing Gold Cup
Jockey Sam Waley-Cohen believes the Cheltenham Gold Cup in March will be a close affair.
Waley-Cohen is set to partner Long Run, priced at 7/1 to win the prestigious race with bet365, having landed the Gold Cup with the eight-year-old in 2011. Bobs Worth is priced at 3/1 ahead of the Cheltenham showpiece, and Waley-Cohen admits it will take a big effort to see off Nick Henderson's heavily fancied charge. He said: "Whichever horse wins it will need to run up to a mark it's never achieved before and that makes it a highly intriguing affair. "Long Run is a quality animal who has never been out of the first three and even when he's not run up to his best he's been up there in the 160s." He added: "He (Bobs Worth) really is a very good horse indeed and has all the form in the book. He's the one to beat but it's a very interesting race indeed."
