Horse Racing: Mullins upbeat for National bid
Irish trainer Willie Mullins believes that his stable have a good chance of producing a Grand National winner at Aintree on Saturday.
On His Own, 7/1 with bet365 to win the race, Quel Esprit and Quiscover Fontaine offer Mullins three decent options for Aintree glory and the 2005 National-winning trainer is positive about his charges' chances. He said of On His Own: "He seems to have arrived at the track in good order and I don't think the drying ground will be any harm to him. "He had a setback earlier in the season and because of that we haven't been able to get three or four runs into him, but he's here now and in good shape, so I'm happy enough with that. "Quel Esprit is a Grade One winner and I think he'll handle the trip. He'd probably prefer softer ground, but the trip should bring his stamina into play." Of Quiscover Fontaine, Mullins concluded: "Pedigree wise, he should have no trouble with the trip, even though he has never won beyond two and a half miles."
