Home and Away: Club Brugge hitting play-off stride

It's off to the crazy world of Belgian football before a tip much closer to home for Christian Crowther...

Club Brugge v Zulte-Waregem

Anyone who is able to make sense of Belgian football's structure deserves first degree honours in some high-brow subject or another.

There seems little point in having a regular season at all, as the final weeks of the Jupiler League break off into a play-off for every available position.

Still, there is currently a six-way championship play-off taking place to see who will be crowned champions (despite Anderlecht remaining top since October 30).

Despite finishing fourth - two places below this year's surprise package Zulte-Waregem - Club Brugge finished the regular season with a flourish, winning their last three

fixtures before thrashing Lokeren in their second play-off game.

After a fantastic campaign, Zulte-Waregem appear to have run out of juice coming into the play-offs for the first time in three seasons.

They followed frustrating draws against Lokeren and Genk with a 4-3 home defeat to Standard Liege - who finished sixth in the regular season - last Friday night.

These two sides traded victories in the league but it's seasoned campaigners Club Brugge who have the momentum now. Betfair customers can watch the game at 19:30 on Betfair Live Video.

Hampton and Richmond v Wealdstone

After missing out on promotion through the agony of play-off defeat last season, Wealdstone have remained one of the forces of the Isthmian Premier in 2012/13.

The Stones finished fourth in 2011/12 before losing out to Lowestoft in that play-off game and, although Whitehawk have prised a 10-point gap at the summit, while

there's a glimmer of automatic promotion, Wealdstone will be sure to keep pushing.

Up next for the Harrow-based outfit are fellow Londoners Hampton and Richmond, who began this season well but have struggled since early November - recording just four wins in 27 league games that time.

Relegation from the Conference South last season after five years residency combined with their slide down the table during this campaign prompted their manager Mark

Harper to resign at the start of this month.

Now they face one of the strongest teams in the division without a recognised manager and off the back of four defeats and just one win in their last seven outings.

When the two sides met previously in the league back at the end of October, Hampden were unbeaten and looking like they would have a big say in the promotion race, but still succumbed 3-2 to this opposition.

Four wins from their last seven, including a 2-0 victory on Saturday, suggests that Wealdstone should take the points again.
