Hodgson forced into changes

12Nov 2012

England head coach Roy Hodgson has been forced to make changes for the friendly in Sweden on Wednesday after losing a number of players to injury.

Wayne Rooney, Theo Walcott, Jonjo Shelvey, Kyle Walker and Aaron Lennon all miss out, as do potential replacements Jermain Defoe and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who are both carrying knocks. This has led to call-ups for three players - Tom Huddlestone and uncapped duo Carl Jenkinson and Wilfried Zaha - with England 9/5 with bet365 to win in Stockholm on Wednesday evening, when their hosts mark the opening of the new Swedbank Arena. Winger Zaha plays his football in the Championship with Crystal Palace and he has been a key figure in his side's rise to the top of the table. The last outfield player from the Championship to feature for England was Cardiff City striker Jay Bothroyd, who made his one and only international appearance against France two years ago.
