Golf: Rose driven for US Open bid
Ryder Cup ace Justin Rose hopes that his accurate off the tee in 2013 will help him challenge for a first Major title of his career at the US Open this week.
Rose, 22/1 with bet365 to triumph at Merion in Pennsylvania, is top of the total driving stats on the PGA Tour this season and the Englishman hopes that that form will be a big factor. Rose told the Daily Telegraph: "I'm No.1 in total driving this year and they always say that is crucial at the US Open. "I like Merion, it reminds me of Walton Heath, Sunningdale, those sorts of English courses. So it should suit me." Rose's best finish in a Major is tied third at the USPGA Championship last year, while the last time the US Open was staged at Merion, in 1981, Australian David Graham won by three shots.
