Golden Gotze to shine
Christian Crowther reviews the Opta Stats to pick out four bets related to Tuesday's quarter-final clashes...
Galatasaray v Real Madrid, Tuesday 19:45, ITV
Real Madrid have only failed to score once in their last 34 Champions League games and have managed to score in their last 16 away CL games
Only a finger-full of teams across the continent can boast a goalscoring threat as persistent as this crop of Madridistas. Jose Mourinho's men represent the tournament's top scorers with 21 goals and have been helped along to that total in no small part by Cristiano Ronaldo's nine strikes. Madrid's 5-1 rout of Levante on Saturday made it eight goals in two games and an average of three per game in their last six in all competitions.
Recommended Bet: Back Real Madrid to score two or more goals @ 1.81
Karim Benzema has been involved in 27 goals in his 31 games played for Real Madrid in the Champions League (18 goals, 9 assists)
Real Madrid's French star has largely gone under the radar this season as he plays in the shadow of his all-conquering teammate Ronaldo. However, Benzema has real pedigree in this competition and showed his class in the first leg with his instant control and measured finish to double Madrid's advantage on the night. That represented his fourth goal of this year's competition, with two of those arriving on the road.
Recommended Bet: Back Karim Benzema to score @ 3.15
Borussia Dortmund v Malaga, Tuesday 19:45, Sky Sports 1
Borussia Dortmund have won their four home games in the Champions League this season (seven goals scored, one against)
Anyone who witnessed the first-leg highlights would have seen that the 0-0 at La Rosaleda was a real miscarriage of justice. On balance of chances created, Borussia Dortmund should have been arriving home in Germany with at least two away goals in the bank. However, a combination of goalkeeping heroics from Malaga's Wilfredo Caballero and wastefulness from the visitors left the scoreline blank. Dortmund should prevail if they create anything like the same amount of chances at Westfalenstadion.
Recommended Bet: Back Borussia Dortmund to win to nil @ 2.36
Mario Gotze has been involved in six of Dortmund's last 10 Champions League goals, scoring twice and delivering four assists
Dortmund's 20-year-old playmaker has shown an incredible maturity in this year's competition, unafraid to mix it with the very best on the continent and getting the better of them as well. At this rate Gotze, already a full German international of two-and-a-half years, will be lighting up the Champions League for many more seasons to come. He has twice been on the scoresheet in Europe this season and Dortmund's number ten was chief string-puller once more against Malaga.
Best Bet: Back Mario Gotze to score @ 2.76
