Goals on the agenda in Belgium
Anderlecht take on Lierse in the Belgian Jupiler League this evening and Paul Robinson is forecasting plenty of goals.
Sunderland did the business for us yesterday by sinking Manchester City and I hope to further improve our profit in the coming days before I reset it for the start of 2013.
Anderlecht are riding high at the top of the table with a five point gap to second and a game in hand. The defending champions already have one hand on the trophy and it would take a monumental collapse for them to lose it from here.
John van den Brom's men have won 15 of their 21 fixtures this term and having had a slight blip with two defeats in three, they have stormed back with nine consecutive victories. The Purple and White have been scoring for fun, 53 so far this year, with 33 of them coming in that nine match spell. In fact, six of their last nine have gone over 3.5 goals, and this has been aided by the fact that they have kept just one clean sheet in their last four at home.
Lierse are struggling at the moment and they find themselves in the Relegation Play-off zone, just four points ahead of the rock bottom, Cercle Brugge. They are without a win in five and have kept just three clean sheets all season.
Away from their home of the Herman Vanderpoortenstadion, Lierse's last two have had four goals or more, as have four of their last half dozen. They don't have a problem scoring goals on the road, firing only three blanks all year, but they concede plenty and their defence will struggle to cope with Anderlecht's attack tonight.
This match has goals written all over it, so with under 3.5 trading as low as 1.9 I feel I have to make it my lay of the day.
