Goals on Sunday

FA Cup

Liverpool travel to Oldham for an FA Cup fourth round tie that is live on ITV at 16:00 and Paul Robinson thinks viewers could be in for a feast of goals.

Oldham are struggling in League One at present having taken just a single point from their last eight games. The only joy the supporters have had lately was in the last round of this competition as they caused an upset by beating Nottingham Forest at the City Ground. Liverpool are a completely different proposition though and I fear for The Latics this afternoon.

Paul Dickov's side have conceded two goals in each of their last four at Boundary Park and they haven't kept a clean sheet at all since a 2-0 victory at Colchester at the start of December. Three of their last eight have gone over 3.5 goals, with two of them going over 4.5.

Liverpool are on a roll right now and they put the defeat to Manchester United firmly behind them by thrashing Norwich 5-0 http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20996627 at Anfield. Daniel Sturridge has got off to a flying start and not only has he added goals - one in each game - he's made the entire side look much more dangerous.

Luis Suarez hasn't had to carry the burden of being the main source of goals and although he may be rested today, it is likely that he will get a 20 minute cameo to torment what will be a tired Oldham defence. Five of Liverpool's last nine matches have had four goals or more and while they should win this tie comfortably, they are susceptible to conceding, especially as Rodgers will likely draft in some of his fringe players at the back.

This has all the makings of a goal fest to me so with under 3.5 goals trading at around the 1.72 mark, I have to make it my lay of the day.
