Giggs extends United career

England - Premier League

Ryan Giggs will play on for Manchester United beyond his 40th birthday after agreeing a new one-year contract with the Premier League leaders, who are 1/50 with bet365 to win the title.

Giggs, who is set to make the 1,000th senior appearance of his career this week, made his United debut back in March 1991 and has since helped the Red Devils to a mountain of silverware. "I am feeling good, enjoying my football more than ever and, most importantly, I feel I am making a contribution to the team," Giggs told his club's official website. "This is an exciting team to be part of, with great team spirit and we are again pushing for trophies as we head towards the business end of the season." United are 12 points clear at the top of the table going into the weekend action and can stretch their advantage by winning at home to Norwich City on Saturday. Closest challengers Manchester City are not in action until Monday evening, when they travel to Aston Villa.
