Fired-up QPR to triumph
Christian Crowther reviews the Opta stats to pick out four bets for the weekend's Premier League action...
Norwich v Southampton (Saturday, 15:00)
Both teams have scored in the last six meetings between Norwich and Southampton in the Barclays Premier League
Mauricio Pochettino is certainly learning the hard way that there is absolutely no time for laurel-resting in the Premier League. Since beating Manchester City, the Saints have succumbed to successive defeats, however finding the target at least is not a problem. It's now seven away games in the league since they last drew a blank, though Norwich can also take advantage of a Southampton defence which hasn't shut the opposition out in any of their last five matches.
Recommended Bet: Back both teams to score @ 1.71
QPR v Sunderland (Saturday, 15:00)
Sunderland have won only six of their last 46 Premier League games in London
Due to other results going their way, QPR's win at Southampton will finally have given Harry Redknapp's side the belief that they really can escape the drop as the R's moved to within four points of safety. Loftus Road will be rocking as Sunderland arrive in the capital and the Black Cats don't usually enjoy their trips south to London. Martin O'Neill's strugglers have gone five games without a league win at any venue, three of those defeats, and can be exposed by their fired-up hosts.
Recommended Bet: Back QPR to win @ 2.3
West Brom v Swansea (Saturday, 15:00)
Swansea have scored only 12 goals in 14 Premier League away games this season
The Capital One Cup champions have done so much right this season, but racking up goals away from the Liberty Stadium against Premier League opponents is one element which has thus far eluded them. In fact, Michael Laudrup's side have actually failed to register in six of their last seven league road trips. West Brom are hardly prolific of late either, drawing two blanks in their last four league games at The Hawthorns.
Recommended Bet: Back under 2.5 goals @ 1.94
Newcastle v Stoke (Sunday, 15:00)
Six of the seven Premier League games between Newcastle and Stoke have gone over 2.5 goals
Stoke bring woeful form to St James Park, having won just once in the Premier League since Boxing Day. Where the Potters used to be recognised for their defensive steeliness above all other facets, Tony Pulis' side have now gone ten games without keeping a clean sheet. Alan Pardew's resurgent Newcastle side have scored seven in their last two home league games and will look to continue that trend.
Recommended Bet: Back over 2.5 goals @ 2.18
