Everton to sink Swans

12Jan 2013

Andrew Hughes thinks Everton will keep up their flawless Premier League record against Swansea on Saturday and help land a cross-sport multiple in the process...

Betfair now gives you the facility to mix and match your multiples across a huge range of sports and markets with the easy-to-use betslip and so each weekend I've been putting together a cross-sport treble with the aim of showing the way to maximise your profits.

Bet 1: Back Everton to beat Swansea at 1.57

Any sceptics who are waiting for Everton's season to take a downturn may have to wait a while longer yet. With three wins in their last four, the Toffees are consolidating their position and there are no signs of any let-up in their work-rate or commitment as they target European qualification, which is also their best hope of retaining star players Leighton Baines and Marouane Fellaini.

They will have the bonus this weekend of taking on a weakened Swansea team, whose cup heroics put them in the unusual position of needing to rest a few players in the Premier League. Everton demolished Swansea 3-0 earlier in the season and they haven't dropped a point or even conceded a goal against the Swans in three Premier League encounters. With Baines and Kevin Mirallas likely to return to the first team, the home side should have too much for their Welsh visitors.

Bet 2: Back Saracens to beat Racing Metro at 2.02

With a distinctly winnable home fixture against Edinburgh to come, Saracens are in a strong position to qualify for the Heineken Cup quarter-finals, but if they are to top Pool 1 and earn a home draw in the last eight, they need a victory against Racing.

That's easier said than done. Racing have won three of their last four Top 14 matches, including last weekend's stunning 19-15 victory in Toulon, the first time that Toulon have lost at the Stade Felix-Mayol in a year.

Saracens are in pretty good form themselves though, with four consecutive victories in the Aviva Premiership and they've won all of their Pool games so far this campaign. The return of internationals Chris Ashton, Mouritz Botha, Rhys Gill and Richard Wigglesworth to the starting line up should give them extra impetus and I fancy them to edge what is likely to be a tight affair.

Bet 3: Back Wesley Harms to beat Tony O'Shea at 2.2

Last year, Tony O'Shea beat Wesley Harms on his way to the BDO Championship final and the pair renew their Lakeside semi-final rivalry on Saturday evening. Both have looked good on the way, with Harms comfortably defeating Darryl Fitton in his quarter-final and O'Shea, who'd only dropped one set in his first two matches, overcoming the challenge of Robbie Green to make the last four.

O'Shea's experience and strong finishing are priceless assets when the pressure is on at the business end of such a high-profile tournament. But I think the up and coming Dutchman is the better bet. He's clearly a gifted performer and we've yet to see the best of him. He has looked particularly sharp this tournament and could have a fitness edge over his opponent, who has struggled in the past under the lights.
