There is arguably no harder top player to predict than the 2011 champion. When winning this title and following up with narrow defeat in the World Championship semis, Ding's time appeared to have come. However, while we saw glimpses of his best when winning some minor events, Junhui failed to make an impact at any of last season's big events. This season has been equally dire, failing to reach the quarter-finals of any of this season's five principle ranking events, including two in China. Nevertheless, there remains a strong suspicion that there is better to come from this exceptionally talented, fluent break-builder and, whatever the recent numbers, proven winner.
