Dijon and Monaco to produce goals
Dijon and Monaco meet in France this evening and despite them both being amongst the goals lately, under 2.5 is odds-on, and Paul Robinson thinks it has to be a lay.
After a bright start to the week with a couple of nice priced winners things tailed off somewhat and it finished with a damp squib in Argentina yesterday. I'm hoping for better this time though and aiming to get back into a profit for 2013 by the end of the month.
Dijon were relegated from Ligue One last season and while they are only seventh in their quest to go straight back up to the top flight, that's only five points off the promotion places. Three wins in their last four have helped them close the gap on the likes of Angers and Nantes above them but they must keep on winning if they want to seriously challenge the top three.
As far as the goals go, after 24 matches their games are averaging dead on 2.5 goals each time, with 12 going under and 12 going over. Interestingly though, eight of those 12 going over 2.5 have come during their last dozen fixtures, with four of their last five at home doing so. Olivier Dall'Oglio's side have scored 11 goals in their last five at Stade Gaston Gérard and kept only one clean sheet.
Monaco are the league leaders having lost just three matches all season. Claudio Ranieri has his side in fine form and they look like an excellent bet to be plying their trade back in League One next year. They are dominating in most of the statistical charts as they've had the most wins, scored the most goals and conceded the third least amount.
The Red and Whites' fixtures have averaged 2.71 goals this term, with 13 of their 24 going over 2.5. Five of their last nine have had three goals or more, with three having four or more and the 3-2 victory at Le Mans having five goals in total. Away from Stade Louis II, Monaco have netted seven in their last three, so they're clearly in fine form on the road.
Most of the evidence points to this game going over 2.5 goals, so with unders trading at around the 1.8 mark, I have to make it my lay of the day.
