Darts: Mighty Mike enjoying life at the top
Michael van Gerwen has set himself the target of two big wins in Dublin on Thursday to consolidate his place at the top of the McCoy's Premier League Darts table.
The Netherlands crowd-pleaser registered victories against Phil Taylor and James Wade seven days ago in Sheffield to move two points clear of his rivals on another incident-packed night. 'Mighty Mike' must do it all again - this time against Raymond van Barneveld and Adrian Lewis - in Ireland in the hope of pulling clear and is confident he has the game and the mental strength to get over the line. The five-time world champion, van Barneveld, is quoted 21/10 to beat his countryman, who is available to back at 4/5, while the draw is on offer at 15/4. "I'm top of the table now and I want to keep my place there," said the 23-year-old. "I'm really happy with how I'm playing and I'm very confident at the moment." "Last week was a difficult night for me but I walked away with four points against Phil Taylor and James Wade, and it would be great to do it again in Dublin," added the 2012 Grand Prix winner. Tournament debutant van Gerwen is quoted 7/4 to win the 2013 McCoy's Premier League Darts.
