Cross-Sport Multiple: Fresh City to edge out Blues
After tipping a 7.0 treble yesterday, Andrew Hughes thinks Manchester City can beat Chelsea and help land another weekend cross-sport multiple...
Betfair now gives you the facility to mix and match your multiples across a huge range of sports and markets with the easy-to-use betslip and so each weekend I've been putting together a cross-sport treble with the aim of showing the way to maximise your profits.
Bet 1: Back Man City to beat Chelsea at 1.9
Games are running out for Manchester City and hopes of their near neighbours slipping up appear to be forlorn. Instead, the pressure seems to be on City to avoid falling further behind and Sunday's game is another must-win.
City's home record is strong, but Chelsea are pretty solid away from home. The Blues have lost twice under Rafa Benitez on the road, but one of those was at West Ham whilst he was still finding his feet and the other was a 3-2 defeat at Newcastle when they went down to a last minute Moussa Sissoko strike.
Fatigue will be the key to this one. City have had a week off, while a number of the Chelsea players were in action on Thursday, and that could catch up with them towards the end of the game, when City are at their most dangerous. Roberto Mancini's team have netted 25 times in the last 30 minutes of Premier League games, more than anyone else, and they can edge this one.
Bet 2: Back Scotland to beat Ireland at 2.2
Scotland built on some promising work against England in their opener, by comprehensively defeating Italy at Murrayfield last time out. Their intensity at the breakdown was impressive, and they capitalised on some Italian errors to score four tries, as many as they scored in the whole of the Six Nations last year.
Ireland's resilience against Wales was impressive, but they came up short against England last time, a bruising encounter which has left them with an extended injury list. Six first choice players will be unavailable for the trip to Murrayfield, including Jonathan Sexton, Simon Zebo, Cian Healy and Gordon D'arcy.
On the last occasion these teams met in the Six Nations, Scotland won 10-6 and they've beaten the Irish in three of their last seven meetings. With the home side high on confidence, and the visitors depleted, Scotland can steal this one.
Bet 3: Back Dark Lover to win the National Spirit Hurdle at 3.0
Fontwell's big Grade Two race looks like it will be dominated by Paul Nicholls, who saddles three of the six entries.
Prospect Wells was fifth in last year's Supreme Novices' Hurdle, and finished second on his seasonal debut in the Elite Hurdle, but has gone backwards in two high profile races since. He won't like the soft going, and neither will his stable mate Brampour, well beaten on his last two outings in bottomless conditions.
The third Nicholls' entry, Dark Lover, is the least exposed of the trio, but looks the best prospect. The lightly-raced eight-year-old has picked up a couple of handicaps and ran a creditable fourth in the Betfair Hurdle. The going will be no problem and the step up to twenty furlongs should suit him perfectly.
