Cross-Sport Multiple: Back Spurs to match City
Andrew Hughes thinks Tottenham can hold Manchester City to a draw on Sunday and help land a cross-sport multiple in the process.
Bet 1: Back Tottenham to draw with Manchester City at 3.3
With a 13 point deficit and six games to go, it would take an extraordinary turn of events for Manchester City to retain their Premier League title. But a victory at Tottenham on Sunday would at least close the gap for twenty-four hours and put pressure of a sort on Manchester United, who play on Monday.
Tottenham are hitting their familiar end of term sticky patch, with just one win in seven games, slipping out of Europe and the Premier League top four in the process, and they are taking on a City team that has won eight of their last nine.
But although City have a good record against Spurs, winning their last four encounters, the absence of Sergio Aguero and David Silva reduces their attacking potency. By contrast, Tottenham will be able to welcome back key forwards Gareth Bale and Jermain Defoe. Back the home side to earn a point.
Bet 2: Back Exeter to beat London Wasps at 2.66
The recent records of these teams suggests that Exeter should be the favourites for Sunday's clash at Adams Park. The Chiefs have won four of their last five, whereas Wasps are on a run of six straight defeats in all competitions.
The bare statistics don't tell the full story. Three of those Exeter wins have come against teams in the bottom four whereas Wasps have faced a much tougher run of Northampton, Saracens, Leinster and Leicester in their last four fixtures.
But losing can become a bad habit to shake off and although Wasps will want to given their fans something to shout about in their final home game of the season, Exeter are fighting hard for a top six place. The Chiefs also have a good record against Wasps, winning their last five encounters. Back the visitors to prevail.
Bet 3: Back Mumbai to beat Delhi at 1.61
Sunday's opening IPL battle is between the competition's two most frequently underperforming teams. Mumbai have three wins from five games, without looking convincing, whilst Delhi have managed an even more underwhelming start than usual and are propping up the table with no wins in six attempts.
For a long time, Delhi's problem has been a lack of middle-order firepower and an over-reliance on the opening partnership, currently made up of Virender Sehwag and David Warner. With neither of those two on form, the Daredevils have little to offer.
Mumbai also have problems with their openers. Sachin Tendulkar and Ricky Ponting might look like a dream pairing, but their steady batting has too often left the likes of Kieron Pollard too much to do late in the innings.
That said, Mumbai's problems are less significant than Delhi's and the Indians have a much better all-round side, particularly when it comes to their bowling attack, led by the deadly Lasith Malinga. They should have too much for the home side and are good value for the win.
