Cricket: Swann certain he will face Australia
Graeme Swann is confident he will be fit enough to feature in this summer's Ashes series against Australia despite being told he needs surgery on his injured elbow.
The 33-year-old will play no part in England's Test series against New Zealand, which started with the first day of the first Test being washed out, after a scan revealed he needs some floating bone removed. However, Swann said: "The Ashes are four months away, so if I'm not fit by then I will be very surprised. The last operation I had was by the same guy and he's a genius in the field. "I'm very buoyed by the success of that last operation and I know it will be fine." England are 8/15 with bet365 to win this summer's Ashes series while Australia can be backed at 3/1.
