Cricket: Saker challenges England attack

7Jan 2013

Making early breakthroughs will be vital if England are to win the one-day series in India, according to their Australian bowling coach David Saker.

The tourists are 11/8 with bet365 to their first ODI series in India since 1984/85, with Saker taking heart and some pointers from Pakistan's recent 2-1 success over their subcontinent rivals. Saker told reporters: "We need wickets up front, that is really important. I think Pakistan showed that in the ODI series they've just had. "If you can get wickets with the new ball, you are going to put a lot of pressure on the Indian team. As a bowler, whether you are a spin bowler or fast bowler, your job is to get wickets." England task will be made all the more difficult after they opted to rest pace spearhead James Anderson and first-choice spinner Graeme Swann for the series.
