Cricket: KP to sit out Champions Trophy
England batsman Kevin Pietersen will play no part in the Champions Trophy and is concentrating on being fit for the Ashes series, which is scheduled to start on 10th July.
The 32-year-old, who missed the third Test of England's recent tour of New Zealand after suffering bruising to his right knee, is aiming to return to full training by mid-June. That means he will sit out the Champions Trophy, which starts on 6th June. England are 9/2 with bet365 to win the tournament. It is hoped that Pietersen will be able to prove his fitness by playing for Surrey in their County Championship clash against Yorkshire, starting on 21st June. England then have a four-day game against Essex to prepare for the Ashes, which they are 1/6 to retain.
