Sri Lanka, who are 13/10 with bet365 to win at The Oval, are confident of beating hosts England in their ICC Champions Trophy clash on Thursday.

Veteran batsman Mahela Jayawardene believes that his side can hit back after losing their opening game of the tournament by one wicket to New Zealand. With only two teams qualifying from each group going through to the semi-finals, Sri Lanka's need is greater than England's, who won their opener against Australia. Jayawardene said: "We definitely fancy our chances against England. It's a great competition against the top teams and every game is crucial, so you have to not make mistakes on the day. "We're backing ourselves, because most of the guys are in good nick and we just need to believe in ourselves and go out and perform with some good cricket." The two sides last met at The Oval in June 2011, when England won by 110 runs under the Duckworth/Lewis method, bowling the tourists put for 121.
