Cricket: Haddin returns for Ashes action
Veteran Australia trio Brad Haddin, Chris Rogers and Ryan Harris have earned call-ups for the summer Ashes series in England.
Wicketkeeper Haddin returns to become vice-captain under Michael Clarke, while Tasmania all-rounder James Faulkner is the one player with no Test experience to earn a call-up. Faulkner is one of six fast bowlers named, alongside Harris, Peter Siddle, James Pattinson, Mitchell Starc and Jackson Bird. Notable omissions are left-arm seamer Mitchell Johnson, left-arm spinner Xavier Doherty and all-rounders Glenn Maxwell and Steven Smith following the 4-0 Test series defeat in India. With Australia 7/2 with bet365 to win back the Ashes, national selector John Inverarity said: "We're always very mindful of looking forward and selecting accordingly at times. "But quite obviously this time it had always been our intention to revert to getting the absolute strongest side for this contest, that's been uppermost in our minds and that's the way we've selected."
