Cricket: England upbeat on KP return
England team director Andy Flower is hopeful that star batsman Kevin Pietersen is on course to be fit for the first Ashes Test, which starts at Trent Bridge on 10th July.
Pietersen recently returned to the nets after a lengthy absence due to knee problems, with Flower enthused that the middle-order man will be ready to face Australia. Flower said: "We are thinking optimistically about Kevin's injury improving and it's nice that he's pain-free - that is great news for him and for us. "We can't give a date or a timeline, we'll be making those types of decisions closer to the time. "Kevin's a really special player and we want him back as soon as he's fit enough to be back." England are 1/6 with bet365 to retain the Ashes this summer, needing only a drawn series to keep hold of the little urn following their 3-1 win Down Under in 2010-11.
