Cricket: England seal series win

18Dec 2012

England secured a draw in the final Test against India in Nagpur, which was enough to secure a 2-1 series win.

Alastair Cook was named man of the series as the tourists became the first England side to win a Test series in India since 1984-85, and the England captain was delighted with the win. Ian Bell and Jonathan Trott hit centuries on the final day to lead England to a draw and Cook was quick to praise the duo. "It's a very special day for us, a special tour with great memories but it was a fantastic effort by Trotty and Belly today, how calmly they batted was fantastic," said the England captain. "We thought the pitch would get worse but it got better. Everyone in the squad can be very proud of what we've achieved after a heavy defeat in Ahmedabad (the first Test), I couldn't ask for any more effort from the lads." England can be backed at 8/13 to win the 2013 Ashes series with bet365, while Australia are 11/4.
