Cricket: Bresnan keen to prove his fitness
England all-rounder Tim Bresnan hopes to prove that his plans to feature in this summer's Ashes series are still alive when he returns to action this week following elbow surgery.
Yorkshire have confirmed that the 28-year-old, who took 11 wickets at 19 runs apiece in the 3-1 series victory in Australia in 2010-11, will play in this week's friendly against Lancashire. Bresnan said: "It's been a while since I played but I'm feeling good and looking forward to playing against Lancashire. I've been bowling in the nets and the elbow has responded well. I feel I'm getting back to my best. "For me it's now about playing as much cricket as possible with a view to playing well for Yorkshire and ultimately breaking back into the England team." Bresnan has slipped out of the England scene of late, with Steve Finn joining James Anderson and Stuart Broad in the seam department on the recent tour of New Zealand. England are 4/11 with bet365 to win this summer's Ashes series outright while Yorkshire, who were thrashed by Sussex last week in their first game of the season, can be backed at 14/1 to clinch the County Championship Division One title.
