Charlton to hog the headlines against The Trotters

Premier League

Bolton host Charlton in the English Championship this afternoon and despite the fact that they are winless at home in three, the Betfair market has them at odds-on.

I was sitting a little uneasily when FC Eindhoven took the lead early on last night. Six goals later for AGOVW I was lying back without a care in the world as we had our 10th winner from the last 14 selections.

After suffering relegation from the top flight last year, Bolton were one of the favourites to earn promotion this time around. Things haven't exactly panned out like that though as they are struggling in 18th place. Owen Coyle was dismissed in October with Dougie Freedman coming in, but it's his former club that are looking like the promotion candidates at the moment.

The former Palace boss has been in charge for eight matches now and despite an impressive 2-1 debut victory over title chasing, Cardiff, they have gone on to record just one more win. In fairness to The Trotters, they haven't been losing, just one defeat, but they've drawn far too many. That loss came in their last fixture at The Reebok and it stretched their winless run to three in front of their own fans.

Charlton entered this division from the other end as Sven Goran Eriksson's favourite left back guided the Addicks to the League One title. After a shaky start that saw them lose three of their first half dozen, Chris Powell has got his side grinding out results and they are currently on a streak of seven without defeat.

Away from The Valley, Charlton haven't lost since the middle of September, picking up four victories and three draws. They conceded just three goals in that period and have now kept three clean sheets in a row, with the latest one coming at the in-form, Millwall.

The draw looks like a huge runner between these two as defeats have been thin on the ground of late. Bolton may have home advantage but they are hardly firing at The Reebok at present and Charlton's away record speaks for itself. At a shade of odds-on, I have to make Bolton my lay of the day.
