Our Friday night fix of Championship action sees an intriguing match-up as league leaders Cardiff travel to Blackburn, one of the sides battling hard to move into the  play-off places but struggling for form just now.

Blackburn

Rovers have won just one of their last seven matches and were denied victory in last Saturday's Lancashire derby at bitter rivals Burnley by a late equaliser, though  it will have pleased Henning Berg that star striker Jordan Rhodes got on the scoresheet again, his seventh goal in the last eight games.

Much relies on Rhodes as Rovers look to get their promotion campaign back on track in what has been a stop-start season. Their home record looked quite smart until  they suffered successive Ewood Park defeats in four days against Millwall and Bolton and, even with Rhodes upfront, goals have been the issue - nobody in the top half  has scored fewer.

Cardiff

Ten wins out of 10 at home is the reason Cardiff are sitting at the top of the table as we approach the festive season. On their travels, the story has been a little  bit more mixed - three wins, two draws and five defeats. Two of those three wins came at Ipswich and Barnsley, who are bottom four sides, while their victory at  Millwall seems a long time ago now so it's clear that Malky Mackay's men are not the same proposition away from their home comforts.

That said, Cardiff battled hard to earn a point at Derby, a tough place to go, in their last away fixture and have plenty of attacking options in the likes of Heidar  Helguson, Peter Whittingham and Aron Gunnarsson.

Match Odds

The two sides can hardly be separated in the outright market, trading at 2.78 and 2.74 respectively, which reflects the difficulty in working this particular conundrum out. The likelihood is that a point apiece would leave both managers reasonably satisfied and able to enjoy the rest of their weekend so we wouldn't put anybody off backing the draw outright at 3.55.

Correct Score

However, it's the correct score market that is especially of interest given the home side's relative paucity of goals. With Rhodes firing you expect them to score once  but that may be it and Cardiff have netted in nine of their 10 away games, making 1-1 in the correct score market at 7.0 a very attractive price. And with Rhodes in good form then it makes sense to also have a bet on him in to score anytime at the best price you can get.
