Club Brugge v Anderlecht

Sunday 13:30

Sunday lunchtime and the focus is on the Belgian Championship Playoffs as age old rivals Club Brugge and Anderlecht lock horns at the Jan Breydel Stadium.

With the Belgian title, Champions league spots and Europa League qualification all still to play for there is no room for error. We're at the halfway point and with just fives rounds to go every result now has huge consequences.

Club Brugge still have an outside shot at the title, they're six points off the top but if they can put together a winning run they could snatch the crown. Their playoff form so far has been patchy but last weeks' win over Genk has put them back in contention.

Home results have been a let down so far, they are yet to pick up a win in the playoffs in Bruges. They face their greatest enemy on Sunday and the atmosphere will be intense. Coach Juan Carlos Garrido will be hoping that the fiery environment inspires his team and he'll be looking to his strikers to make the difference.

Carlos Bacca has been the most consistent scorer in Belgium all year, he'll be the one to watch again on Sunday where he'll go looking for his 24th goal of the campaign. Bacca will be supported by the wily Eidur Gudjohnsen and with both strikers finding the net last week Anderlecht's defence will have to be at their best to survive.

The reigning champs Anderlecht finished top of the league in the regular season, some thirteen points above their hosts on Sunday but despite starting with a head start they seem to be throwing away their chance to retain the title. They've only managed one win in the playoffs and last week's loss to Zulte saw them slip to second. Have they blown it?

Their impressive defence has been doing their job as it did in the regular season but they are finding it hard to convert chances at the other end of the pitch. Congoese striker Dieumerci Mbokani has been reliable and will be their main threat on Sunday but more is needed from his teammates.

Coach John Van Den Brom and coveted captain Lucas Biglia will have to inspire the champions to dig in and find the form that saw them finish top of the tree in the regular season if they are to retain their title.

These two met two weeks ago in Anderlecht and it ended all square but don't expect either team two settle for anything less than all three points this weekend. Brugge have their tails up and should have enough to capitalise on the champions' frailties...

Fenerbahce v Kayserispor

Sunday 18:00

Turkish Super League action on Sunday night as Kayserispor make the long trip west from the mountains of Anatolia to Istanbul to take on the mighty Fenerbache.

Last years runners up Fenerbahce again sit in second now trailing champions Galatasaray by seven points, despite their good form it looks unlikely they will bridge the gap this season as each week Gala continue to sweep away the opposition.

Fener endured a frustrating but ultimately rewarding match on Thursday night as they picked up a narrow win against Benfica in the first leg of their Europa Semi thanks to a late header from Egeman Korkmaz. They also await a second leg of a semi final in the Turkish Cup, it may be their best chance at glory this year.

Their home games have brought a lot of success recently. Although not free scoring their performances have been ruthless, they've won four straight without conceding in the Sukru Saracoglu.

Moussa Sow, Pierre Webo and Dirk Kuyt may be the big name strikers but Cristian Baroni has arguably been the most consistent performer for Fener. He showed how much the club means to him on Thursday, weeping after missing a penalty against Benfica. Look out for a big performance from him on Sunday night.

It's a tough ask for Kayserispor to get anything from a trip to the Kadikoy district of Istanbul but manager Robert Prosinecki has his team performing well and will be hoping to catch the hosts feeling tired after their midweek exploits.

Kayserispor are currently in seventh place in the Super League, pretty respectable for a team of their size but with only six points separating them from the two Europa league qualification places there is still a lot to play for.

They have won three from their last five away games and may cause Fener some troubles on Sunday. Their star man is Brazilian striker Bobo, the signing from Cruzeiro has adapted well and with fourteen goals is the main reason Kayserispor are so comfortable.

Expect Fenerbache to be put to the test on Sunday, it may take an hour before 'The Yellow Canaries' warm up but they should prevail in the end. If Gala fail to win their away game at the same time then the title race may be back on.
